New Member 1964 Cherokee 140 (S/N #43) C-GMKQ
Hello Fellow Flyers! This is my 1964 140 #43 off the line. I'm based in Grande Prairie, Alberta Canada. I bought this plane back in 2016 and it's been a labor of love to bring it back in the air after a decade sitting. Every inch of this plane has been gone through. I have pages of updates/repairs/STC's and the invoices to… -
New Rebuilt Factory Engine Issues
First some history, early last year my original engine had chewed up the lifter and cam. Decided after much back and forth to go with a factory “0” time rebuild. Engine was received in June of 2020, and the installation and first flight occurred in September. The engine was installed with all new hoses and hardware. The… -
Cherokee 140B #25392
Hi folks, I'd like to introduce my Cherokee 140B, 1969 model, serial number 25392. The plane spent it's whole life in Germany and has 4000 hours. 1000 were flown in the first two years! Since I bought it in 2015 I fly about 80 hours a year. Upgrades: Garmin Aera 795 panel mounted TRX 2000 Traffic Monitor 8,33 radio… -
Bought 1968 PA-28-235
Just joined the group of Piper owners. Bought a PA-28-235 last month and so far meets every expectation I have. Having trained in 172’s and Archer’s it’s definitely a more capable plane. I’ve been collecting questions so I’m sure I’ll be posting more soon as I get to know the plane better. It has been upgraded to dual… -
High CHT on O-540
I just purchased a 1979 Piper Dakota. I just had the engine overhauled and have about 30 hours on a overhauled O-540. The CHT on Cylinder #2 and #3 exceed 425 degrees on climb out but settle in at 400 - 410 degrees. All other cylinders are fine. In the Lycoming O-540 manual it says that 435 degrees on high cruise is not to… -

LOP Observations in a Saratoga II TC
All, I own a 2005 Saratoga II TC, and I am not affiliated with Advanced Pilots Seminars, or the manufactures of GAMI injectors (ie., this is an unbiased report...). In hopes of prolonging engine life, extending range and better engine monitoring, I recently installed GAMI injectors, and a JPI EDM-700 (so I could monitor… -
Re: P28R-200 to buy w/10.8k hrs, too many?
Howard, You can definitely do it. Just a matter of training and commitment. A Comanche may require a complex and high performance endorsement but it is not really that complex of a plane. The HP and prop give you a wide performance window for climb and cruise. The Comanche is not that far from the rest of the Piper fleet… -
