My mechanic can not sign off my annual until mine is replaced per the AD and he cannot locate one. Basically I’m grounded unless we can locate one. Eaton Aerospace is the manufacturer, part #69861-377. If anyone knows of a distributor that currently has one please let me know. My mechanic has been told there is a 18 month backlog so I’m real concerned I would be able to meet my upcoming Angel flight obligations. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Winter is quite cold here and despite winter kit installed on 2/3 of the air intake, the engine temperature is still bellow 180. There is sigh of water accumulation in the bleeder

I tried last week to occlude half of the last 1/3 of the air intake ( temperature was -5C at 5000 feet and engine temperature was still just below180. And it was not so cold outside.....

Are any of you dealing with similar cool oil temperature?

Are we to expect these low oil temps even in the summer?

As we are relatively new owners, we are not accustomed with the Arrow's oil temperature behavior.

Thank you,

Daniel

The FSDO says no, FAA policy has changed, and this now requires an STC. Apparently crashworthiness and emergency egress studies now factor in to any approval.

Has anyone else looked into doing this modification?

It is AD compliant, wing spar check is complete, IFR certified, and has a Garmin 696, uAvionix tailBeacon, gap seals, autopilot, dual Bendix/King 165 nav/comms, and complete records.

What would be a realistic asking price range, and what should I address up front when listing?

For years I've been advising members who are changing interior plastic color to use SEM plastic dye.

Recently, another memember (who is refurbishing his plane's interior) alerted me that the product I've been touting is no longer available. Sure enough, he was correct. However there is hope!

SEM has a product named Color Coat, and it is a permanent color change coating for leather, vinyl or plastic that will not peel or flake off. It can be found at auto parts stores and online, including Amazon and is available in aerosol.

I am not associated with SEM in any way. I simply do my best to advise my fellow members what works.

Have a great weekend everyone! On Memorial Day, remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I raise a toast to them. 🇺🇸

I am attempting to inspect the forward wing spar fitting per SB1400B. The SB states to gain access to the forward wing spar fitting is through the lower forward cabin air vent. I can not see how this is accomplished, has anyone attempted to gain access through this air vent?? THANKS

My Warrior's lights in the two nav/COMs will not come on. Both the Com and Nav work fine, just no night lights coming on. Checked the old pop out fuzes, nothing popped. Instrument lights come up fine.

So, I don't know exactly where the lights are located inside the two nav/coms, but with both out I suspect it is not an inside the box issue. Something must be disconnected/shorting out.

Any suggestion in fixing?

For those that have an engine monitor, where do you like to run your engine at cruise. I'm operating an O-360. Lycoming manual says best economy is peak EGT and best power is about 175 ROP. I tend to run about 65-70% power and at peak EGT. That results in about 8.5 gph. I'm usually not in a big hurry.

Anyone have any recommendations or advice on purchasing and installing a CHT/EGT - I currently have an older EGT only probe with a selector for each cylinder - would be much better to see them all at once along with CHT. I don't really need any of the additional features I see advertised, like fuel flow or hooking it up for oil pressure, etc. - looking for a simpler less expensive installation. Thanks,

Good day all, finally have decided to post here and start digging through the forums. I am currently starting the process of restoring a 1969 Piper Cherokee that I rescued from a small airport. She had been sitting there for about 25+ years before I took ownership of her. Unfortunately before I got her the previous owner took the engine off and then someone broke into the aircraft stealing the cowlings, rudder trim, flap lever and taking a saw saw to the instrument panel to get the two obs out of it. The aircraft also unfortunately is missing log books so I will have to start that process of reconstruction. I thankfully have a very kind IA that will help in making sure all Ads and Sbs are redone and signed off. Tomorrow I am getting the spars inspected and hopefully pass. Once that is done then it will be more full steam ahead with the restoration. Unfortunately with it sitting so long there is a lot that needs to be replaced and cleaned. All of the help and support will be greatly appreciated as I navigate this great endeavor.
