Wheel Fairing /chafe tape?

Hi,
Working on the wheel fairings on my 1980 Archer II. The current tape that cushions between the strut fairing and the wheel fairing need to be replaced. the current material looks like the smooth side of velcro. It has been suggested to use felt or A-56 chafe seal. Does anyone have a good product to use? I did not see a part listed in the parts manual for this.
Thanks,
TMcC

  • Thanks Scott, another option suggested is felt. https://www.mcmaster.com/self-adhesive-felt/width~1inches/

  • My Archer II does not have anything in between the wheel and strut fairings. The wheel fairings just rub in a couple of places on the strut fairings. I was thinking about putting some Teflon chafe tape on the verticle rub spots on the strut fairing to keep it from wearing in any farther. Right now it just looks like black streaks or rub marks.
It seems like if there was that fuzzy velcro or felt in there it would trap runway dirt and dust in the fibers turning it into an abrasive scrub pad!

  • I used the felt and so far it seems to work well.

  • Looks very good. Nice job!

Please let us know how it works out after some time down the road (runway)!
