Oil Leak?

What is the best way to track down an oil leak? I noticed a darker then normal area on the leading edge of the non skid.Pulled off the cowling and sure enough, there was oil pretty much all over. Light sprays here and there, puddles here and there and 2 large puddles in the bottom of the housing. I've cleaned most of it up. The right side cylinder area was total clean. Not so much on the left side. Do I clean it completely and then take it for a run around the pattern and then check it, and continue to do that until it throws oil?
Thanks,
Steve

  • If you take it to your mechanic, he will put some ultra-violet reacting die in your oil. Then you take it around the pattern and he'll shine an ultra-violet light at your engine and you'll see where it's coming from.
