Wing spar repair
Just learned that my plane (PA-28-161) has an improper repair of a wing skin in the wing walk area on the right wing, and cherrymax rivets were shot into the spar 35 years ago. The holes have elongated slightly.
The shop is seeking input from Piper on an approved repair. Wondering if anyone has specific data on what's allowed. I'm wondering if the holes can just be reamed out and larger solid rivets installed, or if perhaps a doubler can be used.

Well I can pretty much tell you what Piper's going to say. So right now I would say run don't walk to contact airframe components down in kendallville Indiana. They're going to be pretty much your only hope at either salvaging or repairing what you have.
