FAA to Issue ADS-B Rebates!

Hi Piper Owners,
If you're about to add ADS-B to your aircraft ... DON'T!
Starting sometime this Fall (no date is yet announced?), the FAA will send direct to you, a $500 rebate for meeting the 2020 ADS-B mandate.

The FAA has 10 Million to use to reimburse aircraft owners (that's 20,000 aircraft owners @ $500 ea.) with this program just recently announced.
Obviously, the installation must meet the guidelines and although the program allows you to purchase the equipment now, the installation cannot happen until after the start date is announced, expected to be sometime this Fall. This is good but ... it raises some questions for me!
1. Where did the FAA get 10 million to reimburse aircraft owners?
2. If they are in a hurry to get you equipped, why are they making you wait until Fall to do it?
3. Owners who have already "jumped" on ADS-B (as the FAA has been pushing), are completely cut out of this deal? If you have already installed ADS-B, you won't see a penny. Also note, the aircraft must have been registered before January 1, 2016. What if you bought an aircraft in February that does not have ADS-B?
Something you can do now! Check the information on file at the FAA on your aircraft and specifically make sure the info is correct. The FAA will send checks directly to the address you have in the system so it must be accurate.
Interesting, don't you think?
