SAIB - Main Landing Gear Drag Link Bolt
Notice Number: NOTC7051

Special Airworthiness Information Bulletins (SAIB) are informational documents that alert, educate, and make non-mandatory recommendations to the aviation community about ways to improve the safety of a product (aircraft, engine, propeller, or any component part).

A new SAIB has been issued about a potential airworthiness concern regarding a failure of the main landing gear drag link bolt on Piper Aircraft Inc. (Piper) Models PA-23-150, PA-23-160, PA-23-235, and PA-23-250, which can cause the main gear to collapse. Fatigue cracking can develop at the midpoint of the bolt shank, which can result in bolt failure and subsequent main gear collapse. To learn more about this SAIB visit http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgSAIB.nsf/MainFrame?OpenFrameset, and open SAIB number CE-17-08.

On a "Lighter" side, I dawns on me that many Piper aircraft are no longer "Politically Correct" and you may be forced in the near future to change the model name of your aircraft! For more info on this, consult with a Washington Redskins fan (ha!) Bob Hart www.AvionixHelp.com

  • Hey Bob! I'll change the model name of my airplane from Seneca to Sweetheart! :) How's that? Thanks for SAIB update on Apache's.
