Lycoming engine question for 1976 Piper Lance

Is the Lycoming IO-540K1G5D the only variant engine that is approved for a 1976 Piper Lance straight tail ? Looking at one missing engine and prop .......... Sitting a long time , might be a tough project . What issues to look out for when buying a salvage engine of this size ? Thank you !!!

    I am pretty sure your only choice is the 540K1. Depending on when the engine was last overhauled you need to be on the look out for the crankcase AD that affected many of these in the early to mid 2000's. Also if you are going to have it re-done the roller tappets are a great upgrade.
