Tri-Pacer nose strut

Trying to figure out how to get bearing back into housing so that I can reinstall the snap ring. It came out simply enough with a tug. it will go most of the way back in except for about 1/4 inch or less. It feels like it is hitting the shoulder on the inside of the housing and that is what is stopping it from going all the way back in. Any suggestions?
