Help??
I am looking for some help. We have a 1980 Piper Dakota. We have not flown the airplane in approx 3 weeks and once again we came in the hangar and found a small amount of oil on the ground. We took off the top cover and only the very center of the lower cowl is wet and dripping oil onto the wheel pants. Following the leak further towards the front of the cowl I notice oil on top of the carb heat exhaust box. Funny thing it appears to be coming from the carb heat air intake hose. When I look down the carb heat air intake hose it appears to be saturated with oil approx 3-4" down. The under side of the air intake hose is wet like the oil is saturating thru the hose and leaking out the bottom right before it goes into the carb heat box? It also leaks out of the carb heat box where the connection of the air intake hose meets the box (the "Y" pipe) I am wondering if this could be a blow by problem since clean oil appears to be coming from the top of my carb heat box and carb heat air intake hose. We have had our plane for a year and this has never happened before and we have 37 hours since our last oil change. I am sure hoping someone can shed some light on what could be going on here??? Thanks
