oil winterisation plate

Hello all, its my first winter with my PA28-151. Here in MI its pretty darn cold and I cant get my oil above 100 degrees. Do any of you use a winterization plate?

  • Hi and thanks for writing. I live in Milwaukee and have used oil cooler winterization plates for 50 years! I put them on when outside (ambient) temp dip around 40 degrees. If you don't have one, your mechanic can make one for about $50 out of sheet aluminum. Keep in mind that you may need two. Good luck!
