  • Hi, over the years I've used tugs from all of these good companies. http://www.aero-tow.com/ http://www.powertow.com/ https://airtug.com/ http://www.lindbergh.com/aircraft-tug/index.html http://dragger.com/ My personal favorite, and the one I used for 25 years was a variant of this one... http://www.powertow.com/ThunderVolt-12-Volt-DC-Aircraft-Tug-_p_17.html

  • I've used a PowerTow (http://www.powertow.com/40-EZ-Aircraft-Tug_p_14.html) for the past few years for my Arrow. It's been great. Being based in the Chicago area, using chains is a must when there's snow/ice on the ground, but the chains do slip when there isn't anything to dig into, so you have to lean on it to get some grab in that situation. My only issue has been having to get a tune-up at a small motor shop about a year ago when I was having trouble getting it started. Other than that, it's been super handy.

  • I understand totally about taking care of another engine. With two cars, a lawn tractor, two engines on the plane, etc, I didn't want another engine. So 25 years ago I got the AC powered version, which I loved and gave to a friend of mine last year. I switched to a heavier duty version that was battery powered last year and I'm very happy. I'm in Southeast Wisconsin, just a short flight from where you are. I grew up in Evanston and flew out of Midway, Chicagoland, Palwaukee and Skyharbor over the years before moving to Wisconsin some 40 years ago. I'm currently based at Burlington.

  • thanks so much guys...man what a tough decision. I want one but dont need one, so spending the money seems to be difficult.
Have anyone ever used a nose dragger? I dont like that it doesn't actually secure to the aircraft, but i like how easy it looks to use.

  • The company loaned me one for a product review and I attached it to a Cessna 172 and practiced using it. I didn't like that it didn't attach directly to the plane. Get a different one.
