New Member, New Owner, Student Pilot In a Cherokee 180F

Hello all,
I Started my pilots training in high school in the 80s in a Tomahawk, soloed then ran out of $$. I Took a flight in a North American T28 this summer and the bug bit hard! So I went all in and started flight training again. I just purchased my first plane, N3962R and am headed down to Atlanta next Saturday to pick her up with a friend. She will be based at KGWB while I finish flight training.

Thanks for the welcome! Excited to bring her home and get a few things done in the avionics shop, and they said boats were money hogs

Brought her home yesterday! Auburn Alabama to Auburn Indiana, 5 hr fight with one refueling stop.

Many will dismiss that KR86 ADF as ancient history and suggest pulling it. If you don't need the panel space I'd keep it. Listen to the radio on long cross countries, direction finding if all else fails, poor man’s thunderstorms building detector, fun to navigate like a WWII pilot, ADF still required for some instrument procedures, etc. And if you really want to take it out, I'll buy it as a spare!
