Rotating beacon replacement
My beacon suddenly sounds like a meat grinder. I'd like to replace it with an LED beacon. Anyone have recommendations (for or against) any particular brand? Is this something I can install and have my A&P sign off on (not that I'm inclined to do it myself).

Hi, here's a bunch of them and they're all good. And if you can reach it, you can replace it https://www.knots2u.net/categories/aircraft-lighting/strobe-led-beacons.html

I'd get rid of the rotating beacon if I can. There is probably an STC involved with the newer type. Will need an IA for the 337 form. I have my annual IA clinic next Thursday and Friday. The most important thing is to get there early before all the FAA guys eat all the donuts!!

I'll second Scott's suggestion. I replaced my fat beacon many years ago in my Cherokee 180 and I believe Knot 2U made the new slim fairing to mount a smaller beacon.
In the link above, check out the first unit in the last row. Smaller beacon, less drag.
