PowerTow configuration for Piper Arrow
I have a Piper Arrow. It is a retractable, so the nose wheel has no wheel pants. I use a PowerTow Model 35/40 EZ tug. I bought it used. I have to use a bungee cord to keep the adaptors seated in the axle of the nose wheel. The tug came with "extension arms" (the parts are NOT labeled in the parts diagram) that hold the Piper adaptors that fit into the wheel axle. (The extension arms are the angled tubing each attached with 2 bolts. See photo
) An observer suggested I should remove the extension arms as they are not needed on the Arrow. I don't find any mention of this in the manual. Photos attached. How do people use a PowerTow tug with a P28?

My Power Tow (used on my Arrow) does not have the extensions. The built in spring adequately holds the arms to the wheel.

As Jim said you don't need the arms, . On my 172, trip to hardware store picked this up, works perfect to keep attached to the tow lugs.

Thanks to those that responded. I removed the extensions. Relatively easy. The "new" openings for the axle pieces were tight due to wear from touching the ground. So far, it seems to work OK without using a bungee cord to keep everything connected. The big advantage is that the handles are much lower which makes repositioning the wheel to steer much easier and more ergonomic.
