My First Plane is a 1979 Piper Dakota

I just bought this plane. I'm still a student pilot but thought I should complete my cross country training and check ride on my own plane. She's a fantastic aircraft. She's a fan favorite at my flight school, Alpha One in Plymouth Ma.

This is original Piper paint. She has only 2,200 total airframe hours. What a find. We are going to have many fun adventures togther!

Her name is Betty Davis!

  • Wow nice bird. Sounds like you've got a lease back? Great way to get into a good quality aircraft. Carl

  • Hi Chuck,

Welcome to Piper Owners! Great airplane. Keep up with the maintenance and it will provide years of safe flying adventures.

Good luck with your training and flight test. There use to be a column years ago in Flying Magazine by Howard Fried called "Eye of the Examiner." There is now a collection of his columns available in book form on Amazon. Highly recommended reading before you take your check ride. Puts a lot in perspective. Here is a link:

  • Wow, great looking bird...I did the same thing...purchased a PA28- 235C while still working toward my PPL. I wanted instruction and qualification before my check ride. I kept "Missy" for over 10years.
