Replacing Mixture Cable

I just had my mixture cable replaced due to stiffness in the old cable. I was charged for 7.5 hours of labor for the job. I know the tech spent that long on the job but I was wondering how long an experienced tech should take for that job. There was only one unexpected factor - the new cable had a larger diameter than the old one.

Anyone have an idea if 7.5 labor hours is reasonable?

Thank you.

  • Wow.

Jim, I replace the one in Mark's Warrior and it took me about 1.5 hours. We got the new one from McFarlane. That sounds like you paid 4 or 500 bucks labor? It is a cable... not a annual!! :)

  • 1.5 hours is about what it took on my Archer II. New cable came from McFarlane also. Exact replacement, pretty easy job really.

  • Thanks for the replies. Don, I should have called you. I'll know better next time. For everyone's information this was done at Aeromech in LAL. Would not recommend them.

  • I replaced mine on an arrow and it took 2 hours, not having done it before. I had my A&P check it and do the books.
  • Looks like I should have bent over when they gave me the bill.
