Looking for Feedback on California Paint Shops

Hi Guys,

I just got back from Oshkosh and it really has motivated me to kick the paint job project for my Cherokee into high gear. I am looking primarily for paint shop recommendations in California. If you know of ones to specifically stay away from I would like to know that as well. I know that there may be better deals out there out of state but I really want to keep it closer to home. Thanks so much for your help!

My hangar neighbor got his C182 painted somewhere in CA - I have emailed him to ask him.

I am not sure what they are like nowadays, but Kracon used to have a good reputation:

I would check the list of paint shops listed on Scheme Designers website:

You may also want to consider getting the work undertaken in a dry state, say Texas or Arkansas, since they may be able to get a better paint finish with a dryer atmosphere.

This is from my hangar neighbor - he had his C182 repainted a couple of years ago, here's a quote from an email I sent him asking him about his paint experience:

We used T&P Aero Refinishers in Salinas. They can paint a Scheme Designers paint scheme. They are usually one year out and require a deposit to hold a place. Yes I would use them as long as the owners are the same. If not then all bets are off.

Thanks Andy! That's a big help! I have spoken to them already. The owners are the Solorio's so I don't know if they are the same owners or not. I have only gotten a basic quote but would still need to visit the facility to get a feel for their operation compared to others. I do like what I have seen and heard so far. They apprear to be about middle of the pack as far as price goes...
