Leaning the matrix below 10 k

I have a 09 matrix.and some times on a short trip say 40nm it's not worth it to climb to above 10k. Do I still lean to 1650 or lean to 100 rop??? Say at 5k or so??

  • I don't think you should lean to a TIT number without knowing its reference to peak. 1650 is probably your TIT limit, but what you want to know what your peak EGT is. Then lean to either LOP or ROP. If LOP you should be at least 50 degrees LOP and if ROP, at least 100 degrees. This has been my practice on a Lycoming TIO-540.
