73 arrow 2 landing gear

my 73 arrow 2 has had landing gear issues on and off for a few years the power pack was rebuilt in 04 the hoof valve was replaced in 06 and the orings in the actuators replaced in the last 2 years. now when the gear is retracted the pump shuts off and gear begins to fall slowly, than after a while pump comes on for a second and pulls the gear back up and this continues, unlike before we can find no visible leaks and the resivoir is not low the pump seem to lift the gear up normally and it does not keep running but we have a pressure leak some where?

  • You have to isolate things to figure it out. It can be an internal o-ring on any of the gear cylinders (letting the high side leak to the low side which leaves no leaks for you to see). To find out if that is it, you need a plug and a cap. Take the high side line off one at a time and plug the line and cap the cylinder. If it is one of the cylinders you will find it that way. It can be the hoof valve. Isolate it and see if it happens still. Or, it can be the shuttle valve in the bottom of the powerpak. If it is not a gear cyl or the hoof... it is the shuttle which is expensive as it is part of the powerpak.

    Good luck!
  • thanks flyguydon the hoof valve was it $4 of orings solved problem gear stayed retracked over night not bad ,yhank you very much; mike
