Warning. The New Firewall Forward. Buyer Beware
My Lycoming TIO540S1AD was sent to the New Firewall Forward on 8/2010 for an engine overhaul after a cam lobe wear problem that lead to metal throughout the engine! The overhaul took until 2/2011. They charged me over $44,000 and did not overhaul the fuel system or the Bendix mags that had over 430 hours on them. The fuel system failed within 12 hours of flight time and the magneto failed on thanksgiving day of 2011 after 25 hours since overhaul. I called the office at Firewall Forward when the mag went out and told Josh Critchfield about the fuel system failure. He said all systems checked out OK when tested but he felt badly and wished I had called him for help with the fuel system . He offered to overhaul the mag for cost so my mechanic sent it to him. I still don't have it and had to order another They are thieves and liars!!!!!
