Door Seal Leak Fix
I recently replaced my door seal with one of those new rubber types which shall go unnamed. I replaced the Clevis pins, and the eyeboths, spaced as necessary, all work done exactly per the instructions. Leaked at the first rain. Looked over the seal, locted the spots that weren't touching the frame, adusted the top and door lock. Next rain leaked.
So I thought to myseal, what if I put some door sealant tape on the frame in addition to the door seal. Ace hardware has a 1/4 inch thin foam tape for houshold doors. It has an adhesive back. I just got a little av fuel on a rags, celaned up the doorframe and put the tape on a few inches at a time. It kinda sticks out and looks like it wouldn't work, but I shut the door and came back a few days later.
The foam had compressed nicely to the shape of the door and did not spring back. Next rain , no leak.
I hope my plane doesn't fall out of the sky due to this unapproved alteration
