New to forum with a question prior to buying a Archer

Hi all.
I just joined the forum because I am planning in purchasing a Piper Archer. I think I found answers to all my questions regarding insurance and hangar but wonder if anyone here cn give me an idea what an annual will run me?

I am looking at a 1996-1997 Archer III with around 1,000 hours on it.

Grateful for ballpark numbers.

  • It depends what all it might need... and where you get it done. Can be under a grand... or can be 5000. If you are anywhere near Jacksonville, FL, I do complete or owner assisted ones at a reasonable rate.
  • I would expect it will be on the lower end, as you have a newer airframe with lower time. As flyguydon rightly pointed out there is no way to know.
For most corporate operators a quick and dirty, rough (very rough) estimate is 7-10 percent of the value of the airplane per year. That includes engine overhaul set asides and madatory replacement items, and it may not be as applicable to smaller airframes.
Not much in the way of specifics, but I hope that helps!
