Intermittent Stall Indicator

I have a '79 PA-28-161 Warrior. During pre-flight inspection the stall horn works when the battery is on and the tab is triggered. No problem there. BUT, turn the battery, avionics and lights on and the horn does not activate. I can't imagine that the circuitry for the stall horn is tied into the radios or lights. So I thought I would see if anyone else has any ideas. Thanks!

  • Well, the shop found that one wire from the stall tab goes to the pitot heat tube. (I'm guessing the ground) The wiring was bad at the pitot connection. Also, and probably more important, the ground cable from the battery was in bad shape and apparently just could not handle the current for the stall horn when all the rest of the stuff was turned on.
    Go figure.
