New-to-me Arrow

I finally got the chance to take my first flight yesterday morning as the owner of my 1972 Arrow II. It was a little hazy and I had some anxiety about being in my own airplane for the first time, so I kept the flight short. But, I am looking forward to getting to know my new airplane.

  • Welcome! I strongly agree with your statement,”Getting to know my new airplane.” I was in the same situation in my “new to me Archer II” a few months ago. It takes some time to “trust” the aircraft...

  • You aren’t too far from my home, KFGX, Northeastern KY.

  • Not too far, currently at BUU, Burlington, WI, but still searching for a hangar, so I’ll probably wind up someplace else.

  • Oh sorry! I looked up N number..previous owner!

  • Welcome.

  • Jim,
Have you called all of the hangar owners at BUU? I'll be back there on the weekend, I know a couple of guys that rent out 1/2 of their hangar. I'll check for you.

  • I talked to everyone I could find on the bulletin board in the terminal and Spring City, to no avail. But, I found a hangar at JVL that is month-to-month. I live about halfway between Janesville and Burlington, so this will work fine for the time being. I appreciate all your help so far, though!

  • Congratulations on the new airplane in your life! I know all about getting to know a new one! I have 13 hours in a new to me Cherokee 140! Hope you find a permanent home for your new baby!

  • Jim,
I'm back from Denver and I'm able to look for a hangar for you. Do you want me to? Let me know. Also, I don't think this will help, but there are hangars available at Batton Airport in Racine. I have a 50% chance of finding one at Burlington.

  • Scott,

I just signed a lease on a Hangar in Janesville this morning and flew the plane over and put her in her new home. I am going to see how it goes this winter and then re-evaluate in the spring. Thank you though!

I’ll post some more pictures shortly!

  • Rich,

I have been following your adventure! You have about 12 hours more than me in the “new airplane” logbooks. I am thinking that you might know yours slightly more intimately....at least from the firewall forward!

  • Couple more pictures. Flew up to Green Bay, WI this morning to have some time to play with the KSN 770, shoot a practice approach, and take some pictures along the way.

  • Thanks Jim! Beautiful bird you have there! Glad you found it a new home.....
I definitely know more about my new to me plane than I ever dreamed I would!!!
I was a Jet Engine Mechanic in the Air Force for six years, I’m trying to figure out how I can install a Jet on my 140 :# LOL it was my first time turning wrenches on such a small aircraft with a prop! (Under direct supervison of an A&P) it was truly a learning experience and incredibly satisfying, so much so that I am currently looking for a new project plane!

  • Anyone that follows 310Pilot on YouTube, I had a Cameo 21 minutes into his latest video!

Also, a few pictures I took cloud surfing across Wisconsin last week
