  • I guess my question is since I have Aspen Avionics in my Cherokee 180 that I just received a notice from Aspen that they have submitted a fix to the problem to the FAA so can I just wait for the new update from Aspen to fix the issue for good? At this time it looks like Aspen & the FAA are talking pass each other!

  • Don't forget the FAA was shut down. Anyway, stay VFR and you'll be okay while we wait. I have an Aspen, too. I'm doing the same thing.

  • My take on this AD is that it is not applicable for an aircraft with one or more Aspen EFD 1000's installed. This is based on the verbiage in paragraph (c) Applicability, (c)(1)(iii) Independent airspeed, attitude, and altitude back-up instruments are not installed. I have an EFIS installed that provides the required independent backup.

  • Thanks for your comments. I have a backup, as well, and feel the same way.
