Broken Engine Case Value

edited June 2019 in General Discussion

I got word today that the engine case on my Arrow was not repairable. They are asking if I want it back, or if they should scrap it. Is there any value in a broken engine case other than a really big paperweight?

The good news is that since I am going with new almost everything on this overhaul, there aren’t really any more expensive surprises I can think of at this point.

  • I'm really sorry, Jim, but after it's paid for and the expense forgotten, you'll be very happy and I'll have a new neighbor behind my hangar to have lunch with! As for the engine case? How about giving it to your wife on her birthday to use as a planter?

The plus side is that the engine shop should have the new case in a few days, and after that it’s out their door in 2 weeks, and then another week at Spring City and I will be flying again! I did my IPC in a C172 a few weeks ago, so once the new engine is on and broken in, I will be ready to do some real flying!
