What in the world are these?

I was asked by a student’s mom “what are those circles you see when flying”? I had no idea what she was talking about until I saw some while time building. Does anyone have a clue what they are?!

  • Thx. Can you elaborate so I can answer student mom? Lol. Like do they have a name? Why circular? How are they an irrigation system!! Etc.
  • You know those gigantic sprinklers on wheels in farm fields? The farmer puts one end in the middle, which acts as a pivot. The equipment moves around the pivot watering/feeding the field. It is called “Center-pivot irrigation”.

  • Sweeeett!!! Thank you sir!!!
  • Roger that, folks. All over the midwest and they work really well! Park your plane in the circle and throw some detergent on it and wait. You'll have a really clean airplane... with corn growing around it! lol
