Nose Wheel Bungee

edited April 2020 in General Discussion

How do you know if your Nose Wheel Bungee is becoming discrepant. I have a 1979 Warrior II which is developed a banging sound in the nose during taxi. Initial inspection of wheel bearings and nose strut were nominal. Wondering if the noise might be a worn bungee, hence the question on what type of inspection should be accomplished.

  • Have you checked your Warrior service manual? If you don't have one, you can get one for $50 from www.essco.com or www.eflightmanuals.com in pdf form.

  • I used to work for an IA who would disassemble these, clean and reassemble. It would work for a good while. Later model Warriors (1985 and on) reverted back to a solid steering rod, part number 87468-02.

  • Thanks for the input, I will see what the maintenance manual states and determine if mine is actually bad. Thanks!
  • Good luck and let us know how you make out. :)
