Control Rigging Tools

Does anyone have the Piper Cherokee control rigging tools I could buy or rent? (Piper service manual C2C15-2C18) I could probably draw them up and make some for about $300+, but trying to avoid that. I priced out the aluminum and estimating a cutting charge.

  • Let's see if anyone has them.

  • I had an aileron rigging issue on my 1966 Cherokee 180 many years ago and this was made to do the work. Does it match your service manual? Not for sale, but if it is what you need and you cover shipping and insurance, you are welcome to borrow it.

  • Mike, I believe that is the edge w/ spacer used for the flaps?

  • Thanks Mike. That is the flap and aileron straight edge found in the manual page 2C16 (Piper has a weird numbering system). There are a total of 4 (aileron/flap, rudder, bell crank, stabilator). My A&P/AI/CFI does manufacturing for his day job and will make a set. Maybe I'll offer them out for a small rental/shipping fee so we can all get these poor Cherokees rigged correctly.

  • I made the one for flaps and it was about $10 in parts from the hardware store.
