Replacement of plastic headliner.
I have a 1981 Piper Saratoga. I am replacing the plastic headliner above the pilot and copilot seats. Built into the plastic headliner are the oxygen shut off and the cabin vent shut off, both have black plastic knobs. It looks as though both of the knobs are glued or screw on. If I am unable to get the knobs off then the cables will have to be uninstalled and threaded through the new plastic headliner from the back side Which will be very labor-intensive. Does anyone have experience with this?

I don't have specific experience with the knobs but if you need to run from the backside you can use some conduit with a line in it to fish the cables up. If it is split conduit you can reuse it otherwise just cut it out after the cable is run. This will keep the fishing line and cable from getting hung up on the way to the fitting.
