Piper Yoke Control Saver
Hi All!
Quick question for Scott Sherer…
Hi Scott, I saw your article in this October’s Pipers Magazine on the “Yoke Control Saver”!
I’ve been doing the same thing forever, with looping a seatbelt around the yoke to lock the controls when I’m parked out on the ramp.
This product looks like a great solution to a long time Piper issue.
The picture you shared looks like it shows the device being used on your Arrow, would it work as well on a Seneca?
The “airplanethings” website also seems to hint that it’s for PA-28’s, but do you know if it would fit as well on our PA-34’s?
Thanks in advance!
Hope all’s well!

HI George,
It will fit anything with the Piper throttle quadrant, as in PA-28, 32, 34 and 44. It's excellent and I use it all of the time now!

Thanks for the rapid reply!
WoW! What a Beautiful Arrow!!! Nice!
OK, glad the Yoke Control will work on the PA-34, I’m at the hanger now and I see the quadrant screws you describe!
I’ll order one tonight!
Thanks again! Great article in the Magazine!

Thanks George! I traded a Seneca II for the Arrow three years ago. While my heart will always be in a Seneca, I really didn't need it anymore and the cost of insurance was a concern. Now I'm having loads of fun in the Arrow. Life is good!

Wow. So now I know what that bracket I had next to the gear handle is for. Guess I'll have it re-installed and go find that strap I've seen before
That's funny... I've seen it before and not known why, too. Anyway, it's an excellent and cheap solution to a small but real problem!

Scott,
OK, here's a stupid question. The website asks to specify yoke type (loop, bow-tie, rams horn, new style rams horn). I know you bought yours at Air venture, but what is correct for the PA-28. I am sure (?) it is either rams horn or new style rams horn. I told you it was a stupid question.
Ben
Hi Ben,
Not to worry, when you put in your model number, they will make sure you have the correct one. I specified Rams Horn and 1977 PA-28R-201T. If you need to, give them a call!

Hi All!
Quick Comment, might help somebody here…
In doing some research I found 5 possible Piper Yoke possibilities, 4 out of the box from Lock Haven or Vero Beach and one After Market FAA-PMA model.
This one, I think is the “Loop”, is the oldest, installed on older Comanches, Aztecs and Apaches.
Next the “Bowtie”, is the one us old guys know and love!
The Traditional “Rams Horn”, like on my Seneca…
And finally this new guy off of a 2022 ARCHER! Nice!
This may be the “New Style Rams Horn”, mentioned on the Order Website.
More buttons on that thing then on a 737!
Here is what appears to be an After Market FAA Approved Suitable Sub.
Any questions read Scott’s article in this month Pipers Magazine, it’s at the very end, or call Bill Davis at “airplanethings.com” 866-365-0357. I think Bill is the owner, he’s a good guy, spent time with me on the phone answering my questions. He mentioned the difference between Models has to do with the distance between the Yokes themselves. He said he has been selling this Yoke Control for 22 years now.
I ordered mine and will post a PIREP when it comes in and I attempt to install using all my rusty A&P skills! 😜
Thanks!

George and Scott,
Thanks very much.
Ben
I promised a PIREP when my “Yoke Control”
came in!
The package from “airplanethings” arrived in just a few days
Installed it in just a few minutes without an STC or 337! 😜
…and just as Scott says, what a Cool Find!
Attached are a few pics of it installed on my ‘81 Seneca.
Hope this helps!

Ditto, Love the hangar... nicer than my garage!
Purchased and installed yoke saver on my Turbo Arrow III. Like others said, quick and easy. Thumbs up.
