Fuel Cap Key

Hello all,

I need help finding a key for the fuel caps on my Seneca. I’ve seen comments that they are just draw or cupboard keys which they may well be. Unfortunately I do not have a key to use as a sample. Any ideas where I can get keys or blanks? I’ve attached a picture of the lock for info. The key starts “pa” thanks.

Ian.

  • Take the cap to a locksmith, (s)he will be able to help you out. Cover the tank opening while you're gone.

My door locks were in tatters and needed to be replaced. The locksmith recognized the locks immediately as "cabinet drawer locks". I installed the Medeco locks on my doors and have been very pleased, but I don't know if Medeco makes a lock for gas caps.

  • Yeah Griff I was thinking the same thing. These are not highly proprietary in any respect. Carl

  • Just curious, presuming that nobody has changed any locks on the plane, the door key does not work?

Although, I never tried to lock my fuel caps. And for all I know, the locks are seized in the unlocked position.

  • Thanks for the comments, I have tried the door lock key but it’s clearly a different blank as won’t even go in the slot.

I’ll need to remove them and take to a lock smith as suggested. Hopefully locksmiths on the Isle of Man will have a suitable blank :-)

Key trader don’t have a matching blank. I’ll try the Bournemouth car key link.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.

  • Success yet?

If not, might try these folks: https://skygeek.com/

SkyGeek has several Piper keys available, but only one currently has a photo to help identify fitment. They do show part numbers, so if able to find the fuel key's part number, that should help make the search a bit less difficult.

  • This code on the lock looks like PA215. Try this place, if the code is different try that code

  • Thanks for all the comments, still don’t have solution to what I would have thought a simple thing…..

I’ll going to drop one into the only locksmith on the island and see if they have any ideas.
