Interior refurbishment

I live in the Panhandle of Florida.

I am looking to re-carpet and re-upholster my 1972 PA-28.

Any recommendations for shops which do that in the southeast?

If you are at all handy, Airtex and do it yourself. I did mine with input from people here and it came out amazing. Go there and price it out.... but only if you are handy at all. FAA regs allow it .

100% agree with Asikora. The Airtex solution is awesome. Doing it yourself will be very rewarding, you'll learn a new skill, and you'll have a sense of accomplishment.

It's not a hard job, and once I had done it, I wondered why I previously shied away. Now I assist others.

Go slowly and methodically. If you get stuck, call Airtex. They have wonderful people. You can always ask questions here on the forum too.

If doing it yourself is not for you, there are other options.

1. Order the kit from a company like Airtex, and have a shop or your A&P install it for you.
2. Contact an auto or boat upholstery shop to do the job. Beware that they will need to supply burn certificates as required by the FAA, so ask ahead of time. FYI if you order from Airtex, all burn certs will be included.
3. There are a few aviation shops within a couple hours of flight time from you. Aviation Interiors Inc in Lakeland FL (E of Tampa) 863-272-9398. Full Throttle Aircraft Interiors in Punta Gorda, FL 941-621-8351. Venice Aircraft Interiors 941-234-7359.

You can google 'Aircraft Interiors" near your location and see what pops up.
