New Smyrna Beach report
Just got back from a week at New smyrna Beech FL. its about 20 mi south of Daytona. Been there before but not by plane. Very nice family destination.
Loaded the 'toga to the gills. 6 pax + baggage. nice flt into new smyrna KEVB. got a little hairy at the end. VFR and low ceilings and inside KDAB charlie airspace. they sent me down to 900 agl a few miles out over the water to vector to KEVB.
what I didn't expect was the amount of training. Checked in at Epic FBO. good choice - only choice. about 15-20 'students?' same nationality hanging out. ?!? I inquired about the training there. a CFI told me they had a fleet of 20 trainers!
Quick turn on the rental car. got to drive it out on the ramp (arrival and departure) for baggage.
OH the best part....Lay out on the beach and watch some awesome taildraggers, bi-planes pull banners all day!!! Stearman?
