Santa Fe, NM and Branson, MO

Considering a trip in late March to Tucson, Santa Fe, NM, Branson, MO and several points east. Would like to be in southern Michigan by April 1. (Not an April fools joke - I really intend to go there)

Any advice as to airports,FBO's, hotels and restaurants in Santa Fe and Branson would be greatly appreciated.

  • Gene,
I fly to Santa Fe for breakfast almost every Sunday, nice towered airport with a good restaurant and FBO.
Are you looking for an upscale place to stay in Santa Fe?
Have you considered flying into Taos instead?
  • Thanks for the info. Probably would rent a car for a day or two, so the hotel would not have to be in the high rent area. What would be the advantage of going to Taos?

Are upscale hotels the rule in Sanata Fe?
  • Taos is a small airport with a great little tourist town and the scenery is out of this world.
Santa fe is a busy airport with a lot of jet traffic and the town is very tourist oriented with many 5 star resaurants and hotels, the plaza in the heart of the city does have a lot of bargains if your wife likes jewlery, the local indians sit outside and sell their wares. If you or your wife like art then Sanat fe is your place, if your looking for peace and quiet then Taos is the place.
  • Thanks for the input. Will look into the Taos option - sounds very interesting.
  • Ditto on the PLK. The airport is really close to town and the folks are really helpful. Rental cars can be obtained right in the "terminal".

While there check out the Branson Landing. Great shopping along the river and Sullivans Steakhouse has a great patio from which you can enjoy the Fire and Water show in the evening.

    We will be back soon.

    H.-P.
  • Sounds like fun. Slight change in plans, so it will now be in late September or early October instead of spring. Thanks for the input.
  • Thanks Ron. We are now going to go to Tucson, Santa Fe and Sedona in a couple weeks. The Branson stop is probably going to be in late September or early October. We need to be in central Illinois in early October, so we have decided to make that a separate trip. Sounds like Branson should be fun and an easy stop.

Appreciate the input - sure makes life easier when someone else has been there.
