AD is Main Landing Gear Sidebrace Stud Crack on PA28R-200

Hello,
AD is Main Landing Gear Sidebrace Stud Crack.
Does anyone know of someone that has found a crack in the stud on Piper Arrow?
Do you guys know of anyone that had success in reaming out the bushing to replace the stud with the new larger stud? (original size is no longer available)
Does anyone know of someone that had to replace the hole main landing gear sidebrace bracket assembly?

Thanks
Gus Ziegler

  • A good machine shop should be able to ream out the bracket. Keep in mind that the bracket will also have to be chamfered for the new 67026-12 bushing. If interested, I do have one used 95299-00 stud 9/16" that will have to be inspected for cracks. The new Piper bracket assemblies cost around $2600.00 each!

    Hello Airparts West,

The AD says that you cannot remove the bushing.

"If the bushing cannot be reamed while installed in the bracket (i.e. the bushings are loose), then install a main gear sidebrace bracket assembly"

It is not the bracket that needs to be reamed out it is the bushing in the bracket that needs to be reamed out. This is why I ask if someone has had success in completing this task.

    Thanks for your comments
