Aircraft aluminum polishing! Has anyone done their plane?

I fly almost 300 hours a year, so my 15 year old paint Job has worn off my leading edges and in other areas begun to chip. I know it’s a big job to do and maintain but I was thinking as I do it I could seal it with liquid ceramic to keep it from oxidizing. Your thoughts.

  • We have a member with a Cherokee named Mike JJ (forum name). He did this to his plane last year and I'm hoping he'll see the message and jump in. Stand by!

  • The simple answer is yes, ceramic coating will work on polished aluminum. My plane is painted, and the ceramic coating makes it look like it's wet. Water still beads off almost 3 years later. Cleaning bugs from the leading edges requires nothing more than a damp microfiber towel. Do it, you will not be disappointed.
