Requirement for using FAA approved stuff in a certified airplane if it is temporary
Is there an exception for requirement of FAA approval for devices in a plane if the device is temporary ? I can think of lots of examples like iPads and other things - like usb plugs in cigarette lighters - etc
I know that if I replace avionics etc there are some that are only allowed in experimental planes - or if I replace upholstery or wall covering etc it has to meet And be certified as flame resistant - but what about a blanket put on top of a seat to cover up a hole or keep it from getting sticky on vinyl or leather in summer. What are the general rules on that kind of thing

If it’s a removable “appliance” have at it.
If that was the case, all the way down to your skivvy drawers and bubble gum would have to comply.
