In response to customer feedback, uAvionics made some key changes to its AV-20-S and AV-20-E Multi-Function Displays and has released them as version 1.8.0.

“We redefined AoA [Angle of Attack], enhanced safety features, expanded aircraft compatibility, and delivered an interface that is both beautiful and intuitive,” said Dean Harken, senior software engineer at uAvionics.

More specifically, the updated design gathers information about airspeed, altitude, accelerometer date, and vertical speed changes and filters it through a more advanced algorithm to provide more consistent warnings throughout all flight phases. These changes should reduce the risk of a pilot losing control in critical situations.

Furthermore, Version 1.8.0 includes modifications to make installation into aircraft models with tilted instrument panels, such as the Carbon Cub and Light-Sport Savage Cub, easier.

Other updates include expanded G-meter capabilities with a dedicated aerobatic mode, persistent timers with improved timekeeping, and even a vintage-style analog clock face. And refinements have been made to more accurately track attitude stability, and altitude and airspeed.
