Seminar Description

In the fall of 2018, one owner decides the time is now right to install an autopilot in his 1966 Piper Cherokee 180.  Somewhat handy with tools and loving all things technical, he decides to install the kit himself with A&P/IA supervision as allowed by FAA regulations.  What happened next was a great learning experience, a taste of homebuilding, a safety enhancement, and wonderful addition to his aircraft.

Intended Audience

Piper Cherokee, Archer, Warrior, and other owners who wish to add a new, two axis autopilot while saving considerable install cost and learning a thing or two about the homebuilding experience.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this Piper Webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Consider key factors in deciding to install an autopilot.
  • Identify the paperwork and documents required to install
the autopilot and return the aircraft to service.
  • List key self assessment areas necessary to determine
how much professional assistance you will need for the install.
  • Observe one owners install experience with a TruTrak autopilot, now Bendix AeroCruz, including kit familiarization, panel mounting obstacles and solutions, control signal identification, wire routing, and final testing.

“This webinar will appeal to all aircraft owning members with ancient autopilots that are researching the installation of new, digital inexpensive units.”

Scott Sherer, Aviation Director

The webinar is for paid members.
