When a member on our Piper Owner Society forum asked how to repair or replace the rubber seals on the floor air vent flappers, Marco stepped in with this tip on making his own from foam gasket sheets.
You can make your own air vent seals out of gasket sheets. The flap disc is made up of two thin aluminum discs that sandwich a rubber gasket and is attached to the rotating bar via two small screws. Once out, simply drill out the two rivets holding the two discs and replace the thin rubber disc with your own disc. You can also use a thin foam disc since a thicker piece won’t affect operation.
I reattached the two discs using a screw with a locking nut so it’s easily replaceable in the future. The foam works great. No drafts at all.
