On January 24, Piper Aircraft issued service bulletin No. 1342 regarding stabilator fittings on many PA-28 and PA-32 models. The bulletin states that some of the fittings were installed with mislocated tapped holes, which receive bolts that adjust travel limits of the stabilator.
An inspection of the fittings is required for affected aircraft and if the part is found to be nonconforming, replacement will be required. Inspections can be performed in conjunction with the next scheduled maintenance, but must not exceed the next 100 hours in service.
